BEDA....maybe..

Well, I was going to do Blog Every Day in August and I was really enthusastic and everything, until I remembered a few very important things.
1. It's the second of August, so I have already missed a day. Oh dear :(
2. I'm going away for a week next week to the wonderfully sunny (well, rainy) climes of my mother's favourite holiday destination-where there is no internet connection.
3. And I'm also away elsewhere later on in August, to another godforsaken place without internet. But it's by the seaside, so that's a good thing.

So, no, BEDA for me this year. Ahh, well, I'd probably forget anyway :)

Pretty-Unpretty

If I had to make a t-shirt with my insecurities on, like they did in Glee, it would have to be a size 20 at least. I have more than I can count- big nose, wonky teeth, wobbly bits, small boobs, gangly, un-coordinated, difficult skin, bad hair...
Sometimes, I think that i want to be pretty. Pretty people have it easier. I'm nicer to beautiful people. I know I shouldn't be, but it's so much harder to watch a tear drip down a beautiful person's face. Something about beauty makes you want to protect them.
But then, I think and remember my life experiences. Being unpretty has made me who I am. I can take criticism, I am strong. I know people like me because of my personality, not just because I have a pretty face. I am more confident, because I have beaten my demons. I am who I am because of my wonky nose etc. I wouldn't change it for the world, not even for a face like Lily Cole's. I am me, and I am unpretty. And I love it.
This inspired this post, isn't it beautiful?
Yours

YouTube favourites

I've just been going through all the YouTube videos I've favourited over the year or so that I've had a YouTube account and oh-my-god they are really good. Over the last half an hour I have danced, laughed, cried, and sat back and let some amazing music wash over me. It's made me realize that my taste hasn't really changed, however much I may think it has. I still love the stuff that I loved a year ago, be that really random songs about bacon or anything else, and that can sit happily with a love of Tom Waits and his beautiful, smoke-ravaged voice.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, you can never really change completely. However hipster and sophisticated your music tastes might be, deep-down there still resides a love for that medley of cartoon theme tunes you found last December, and you should embrace that.
It's all part of you.
People have layers, like onions, and Shrek.

Exams are over for a week :)

Yes, yes, it is :D

As a celebration, I've written a drabble with some characters I've been playing with for a while.

Intriguing

Something about that girl was intriguing.
Maybe it was the sheer, downright, blatant, in-your-face weirdness of her. She'd definitely never seen anyone wearing odd shoes before.
It really wasn't her looks.
When she went for girls (which she hadn't for...man, had it been that long?), they were short, curvaceous (always curvaceous), feisty, fashionable....everything Jess wasn't.
Then why did she find herself staring at her, watching the swish of her hair, half-imagining it spread and tangled on a pillow as she twisted with desire, gasping with pleasure...
She could feel herself blushing.
Damn, she needed to get laid.
Soon.

I have a confession to make..

My name is Noah and I'm a Facebook addict.

I have been off it for all of a week.
I miss it so much, it's so pathetic. I'm twitching over the tab wanting to click it so bad.
I can't go on it because The Boy has changed my password at my request, so I can actually get some revision done during my hectic exam period.
I REGRET IT SO MUCH.

I don't even get the appeal really, deep down. But I just miss being able to go on and see what the kids who actually have a life have been up to and what those who don't have been doing (and remember the stuff I did) , being able to write what I fondly hope is a pithy and sarcastic comment on someone's status, and being able to chat to my friends. Yay chat. That constantly breaking, unreliable thing. All the joys of conversation without the awkwardness of face-to-face. I have been texting so much to make up for it, but I miss Facebook so much. DAMN YOU MARK ZUCKENBURG!!!!!

I might paint my nails tonight. Red or blue or grey...
Fancy some pampering time after a stressful week, and a breathing space before I head into another one.

Anyway, I must go.
Talk to you soon.

Ack ac ack ack ack bad day

Had a history exam.
It was one of those exams where you sit in the exam hall seriously considering violently throwing up all over the paper so they can use your mock grade instead...
Then I got home and did statistics revision, for like, six hours.
Now all I want to do is curl up in my bed wrapped in the arms of someone, and have my hair stroked until I fall asleep listening to The Lion King or some other ditsy Disney movie.
Oh well, never mind.

An Education

Watched that film...
it was an Education and a half! :P

No, seriously, it was really really really good. Jenny reminds me of me a little, especially when she was talking about what she wanted to do at university. About wanting to talk to people who knew lots about lots. That's what I want to do. Learn about French films, and books and listen to beautiful music and look at paintings because they're beautiful...
I think she did the right thing, even though some people don't.
Anyway, I really liked it, even though I did spend most of the film thinking "I really want Carey Mulligan's hair" Not sure how it'll go down though, because if a fringe is a mistake it takes years to grow out and back to normal hair, and it does require more work to maintain than I am prepared to give it.
Anyways, if anyone reads this, let me know in the comments about the fringe, mmkay?

Had a day off today.

Yes, yes, I did.
No work!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to write a long, rambly blog-post today about Glee, and various deep issues :P

I really like Glee. I know this might be a bit sad, as it's basically choir love, but I was in Show Choir at my school for like, three years, so I sort of recognize the stereotypes, and as well as that, I'm listening to a medley of cartoon theme tunes at the moment, so I really can't talk about sad. I'm a nerd, live with it. I do.
But I really think Glee is excellent. Musically, it's great. Plot-wise, it's like a soap. Character-wise, they're easy to relate to.
And it really deals with big issues, in a fun, accessible way.
I mean, what other TV show makes the issues of teen pregnancy, alcohol, homophobia so easy to handle and deal with without being too preachy about it, whilst letting you have a little groove. None. I <3 it. I am a Gleek. :P
Love, love

Do you like me?, by ALL CAPS (yeah, lol)

5. When I find a group of survivors:
Meet you there, by Busted

6. When I meet my new love interest:

9. When I discover a bite mark on me:
I can see for miles, by The Who

10. The song during the end credits:
Nerdy, by Busted.

So tired.....so, so tired...

So, I got a text last night from The Boy, who was on his holidays, saying that he would be landing back in our country at around 1 am today.
I set my alarm for 1, so I could respond to any joyful "I am return" text, or reply to the welcoming text I had previously sent.
There was no need for that to have happened.
Then I couldn't go back to sleep.

But where are the sources?????

(a) Use Sources A and B and your own knowledge.
Explain how far the views in Source A differ from the views in Source B on the impact of collectivisation. (12 marks)

(a) Sources A and B differ significantly in their views towards the impact of collectivisation, agreeing on virtually nothing.

Source A is overwhelmingly positive, which is to be expected given that it came from a Soviet school textbook. Even after the death of Stalin, Soviet historians tended to emphasise the benefits of his policies during the collectivisation and industrialisation years. It was also written with the benefit of hindsight, in 1976. By this date, the emotional trauma caused by collectivisation had subsided somewhat and people were able to see the role that collectivisation had subsided somewhat and people were able to see the role that collectivisation had in changing the USSR from an agrarian society to an industrial one.

However, Source B was written in the years 1930-31, when the USSR was in the midst of the turmoil surrounding the attempts to set up the collective farming system. This is bound to harm the author’s view of the attempts to implement the collective and, therefore, make Source B inherently negative. Also, it was written by Victor Serge, who had been expelled from the party, and so may have had the urge to discredit the Communists’ policy, through jealousy.

Sources A and B primarily differ in their views on how collectivisation affected the peasants. Source A says that collectivisation’s presence benefited the peasants, saying that under it “The life of the peasants became richer and fuller”, whereas Source B implies that it made them poorer, and therefore worse-off, saying that “it was a new serfdom”, with the implied bad consequences for them. He also says that the collective gave the peasants “no incentive to work”, which is in contrast with Source A, which implies that the peasants actually became more enthusiastic to work than they already were, as it was “much easier to work” with all the new technology.

Source A mentions education for peasants, saying, “The collective farms did away with illiteracy” which Source B does not do, perhaps because it was a benefit of collectivisation.

Interestingly, neither of the sources mentions industrialisation, which was a main factor in the process of and inspiration behind collectivisation.

In conclusion, the views in Source A and Source B differ significantly, with minimal agreement, only really agreeing on things that they both left out.

AND YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT THE SOURCES ARE
mwahahahahahaha!!!!!

Politics YAY

a) Explain the term the judiciary

The judiciary is the legal arm of the British governmental system. They enforce the laws that parliament makes and operate the justice system in the UK. In a liberal democracy, which is what Britain has, the judiciary should be independent of the politicians, and this means separate. This is why two of the most important concepts in the British judiciary are judicial independence and judicial neutrality. Judicial neutrality refers to the way that judges think and act while performing their duties in court. It’s about whether judges can be unbiased while doing their jobs. This is closely linked with judicial independence, which is the theory that the judiciary should be totally independent of the government.

YAY
See my sneaky work/blog there. Hah.

On my holidays

I know it's been a while, guys. I'm sorry. Work and so on.
I am going to tell you why I like walking today, not moan. :) I like walking in the way babies like milk. Not because its fantastic, but because they need it to be happy. I cant imagine a life without walking. Maybe its because I have been brought up on it (buying my first pair of walking boots resulted in more celebration than any birthday) or maybe I just like the solitude. I dunno. I like it.
Love you

Study leave is fun!

I only have General Studies this afternoon so I'm taking it easy.
Rice, Glee, blogging.
I love glee so much.
I want be standing in a bathroom having a little sing like Sunshine was, and then have someone join in. But without the crack house, obv.
But nothing like that ever happens in real life.
Sigh.

Well, it's been a while...

It has, hasn't it?
A long time.
Whoa. Sorry about that.
Won't happen again.
Promise.
Cross my heart and hope to die.
Are we good now?
Or do I have to grovel some more?

Anyway, I have had a very, very weird day.
I had a maths exam first thing, which is never good. It was a proper "The results of this examination will influence the rest of your life" type exam too, which made it so much worse. But that got done and out the way. We missed break or "recess" as them in charge like to call it, and had to go straight to our next lesson. I was hungry. :(
But was okay, as my teacher was sick, so we got a free. I was not happy that she was poorly, exactly, because she's pretty awesome as teachers go, but I was happy that I got to sit in the common room nomming Wotsits for some time. Then I thought I should probably do some work, so I got some reading out that I had to do for history.
Then I fell asleep.
:(

I then had history, lunch, a cancelled maths lesson and then then I had a free.
Too much relaxing times, I tell you :(

I'm gonna go read xkcd now.
Bye bye
much love,
Noah
